CHRO: Change Fatigue Is a Leadership Credibility Crisis.

“Change fatigue” has become a convenient diagnosis. Employees are overwhelmed. Too many initiatives. Too much ambiguity.

That is rarely the core problem.

Fatigue is not about volume. It is about credibility.

People can handle demanding seasons when they believe the direction is coherent and durable. They disengage when priorities rotate every quarter. They disengage when yesterday’s mandate disappears without acknowledgment. They disengage when leaders launch new initiatives before stabilizing old ones.

Inconsistent follow-through exhausts the organization more than ambition ever will.

As CHRO, your responsibility is not to slow change. It is to discipline it.

Sequence initiatives. Sunset what no longer serves the strategy. Publicly close loops. Ensure leaders model the behaviors they expect. Tie incentives to sustained adoption, not launch excitement.

If managers are confused about what matters most, your system is overloaded. If executives are rewarded for introducing ideas rather than finishing them, fatigue will intensify.

The solution is not fewer ambitions. It is sharper prioritization and visible follow-through.

When credibility rises, energy returns.

Change fatigue is a signal. Read it correctly.
